Leica Announced Pradovit D-1200 Projector

Looking for a new projector? Leica has announced a new one, the Pradovit D-1200, which is its first digital projector display. The Pradovit D-1200 is a 16:10 WXUGA digital projector, ready to be taken everywhere. The projector comes with fancy features like that Leica lens and that image reproduction from Pixelworks DNX 30-bit video processing MotionEngine.

That Leica lens is a Leica VARIO-ELMARIT-P 1:2.8-3.1/33-42 mm/59 mm-74 mm zoom lens with 120% vertical lens shift. You’ll have a hard time remembering that, but if you’re a hardcore professional, you might already know the specs by heart. The projector will get you a 2,000 lumens brightness and a 2,500:1 contrast ratio. There’s a TI DMD-0.98-inch DLP, 6-segment color wheel technology working underneath that case together with a Philips 220W FusionPlus VIDI UHP bulb ready to get you 3,000 hours of standard applications or 4,000 hours of power-save mode applications.

And I’ll have to tell you one last thing, the price. This DLP projector costs $12,000 so you’d better start saving for one. Or get a good sponsor to buy it for you!

Projectiondesign’s F80 projector is the first 3-chip DLP projector that boasts the following :-

  • 15,000:1 contrast ratio
  • 8,500 lumens brightness
  • Advanced Color Processing technology
  • Full HD resolution
  • WUXGA and SXGA+

We could possibly be looking at a £20,000 price point, which clearly places this out of reach of most people on Main Street.

Sanyo PLC-XTC50L 3LCD Projector

Sanyo PLC-XTC50L 3LCD Projector

Sanyo is back again this time round with a new 3LCD projector, the PLC-XTC50L. Targeting both educational and business markets, this projector relies on a dual lamp system – something not really found in most other projectors in the market, allowing it to run 24/7 with less risk of it breaking down. There is a price to pay for this added comfort though where getting information across to the masses is crucial, as the PLC-XTC50L retails for a whopping $7,500 thereabouts. The Sanyo PLC-XTC50L is proud to boast that it has the industry’s first lamp selection system that selects one of two lamps to project from, switching them based on user preference or pre-programmed settings when required. This allows it to clock up to 6,000 hours of projection which is double that of one-lamp models. Features include :-

  • 1,024 x 768 resolution
  • 5,000 lumens brightness
  • 1,100:1 contrast ratio
  • Up to 300′ screen size

  • DVI-D with HDCP input

You won’t want to tote this around in your backpack as this little monster tips the scales at around 32 pounds.

Vivitek has a brand new projector for the masses, targeting boardrooms and classrooms (although we wouldn’t rule out homes, either) with the D725VX. This model will come with the following :-

  • 3,200 ANSI lumens
  • 2,400:1 contrast ratio
  • Native XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution

LG launches portable, but not pico, projector

LG launches portable, but not pico, projector

att41efe.jpg

LG’s got rather a range of projectors, and the LG HS102 is the newest addition to that range. Rather than the business end of things, the HS102 covers the portable side of the spectrum. It measures 154mm x 117mm x 50mm, and weighs less than a kilogram (780g), so it’s pretty dinky. It can throw a screen size of 500′, though, which is rather more on the impressive side. Best of all, there’s no costly bulb replacements involved. The traditional projector bulb has been replaced by an LED variant which uses less power and should last for the entire lifetime of the projector. There’s built-in speakers too, as well as a remote control. STATTACK:

  • DFC: 2000:1
  • Brightness 160 (lumens, I presume, though that’s not specified)
  • Native res: 800 x 600 (not great, but it is a portable model)
  • Lens: Manual focus, fixed zoom
  • Aspect ratio: 4:3 (no widescreen action here)

Not sure how much it costs yet, but I’ve got an email in to LG asking nicely. When they reply I’ll update this post. Meanwhile, ProjectorPlanet seems to be selling it for £500. It’s available now.
